1.Parts of the body, Traits, represented, at the Virgo/Pisces eclipses of 2016

The eclipses of September 2016 occur at:  9Virgo21 on 1Sept2016 and 24Pisces20 on 16Sept2016.

As an introduction, the book I used to get most of my facts from, Astrology, the Divine Science, had Dane Rudhyar write the introduction. He speaks highly of the book but, of importance that this book would be valuable to both beginners and established astrologers and…that it covers the entire field of astrology mainly from a humanistic view. I am not promoting the book but, I have used this as a reference for the past 30 years. It sits with many other valuable books too!

Virgo Eclipse  1 September 2016 and parts of the body Virgo rules

The New Moon eclipse at 9Virgo21 in the sign of Virgo which rules the pancreas, intestines and digestive organs – all essential organs to keep the individual in good health and as such is associated with diet and health. Generally speaking these areas of your body could be highlighted around this eclipse time. House position of this eclipse should also be taken into consideration. Virgoan aspects of the sign represent refinement, purification and analysis. You can see how/why purification is brought up so much in 2016 with the many planets in Virgo (north node, Jupiter, eclipses (by conjunction or opposition) ).

Virgo is ruled by Mercury. Mercury represents the mind and the nervous system. Adding this factor to the mix; messages are being transmitted to the individual and the collective regarding purification (read above).

Pisces Eclipse 16 September 2016 and parts of the body Pisces rules

The Full Moon eclipse at 24Pisces20 in the sign of Pisces which rules feet (which swell when gout is present as a result of dietary indiscretion), water and the astral body. The Piscean aspects of the sign represent imaginative vision, world fantasies and conversely addiction, obsession, delusions. It is in this opposition (the full moon) that psychological issues like addictions rise up. The fact that this is also an eclipse highlights, or exposes these potential issues even more.

Pisces is ruled by Neptune, previously Jupiter. Neptune is viewed as the higher octave of love and the higher levels of consciousness. Neptune can indicate compassion of the highest order but equally, confusion and delusion. This eclipse asks us to discriminate between the two; is it real? Or is it an illusion (self-created or imposed on us)? Neptune is also in Pisces (its home sign) at this time too.

Understanding the relationship between the Virgo and Pisces Eclipses regarding parts of the body

Virgo rules the organs that potentially filter out toxins; Pisces rules the lymph nodes where parts of the immune system reside and shuttle back and forth to neutralize foreign proteins. When looking at the digestive system; Virgo represents assimilation of food and liquid, Pisces represents the final liquid product that carries the actual nutrients the body needs to survive.

Exercise like yoga may be very beneficial to stimulate the immune system and keep it running well. It took me a long time before I finally decide to really try out yoga. I have found the Vinyasa flow yoga is most appealing for me. Anyone can do yoga; remember you can adapt it should you have physical disabilities. Work with a qualified yoga instructor to come up with your best type of yoga. Scientific research supports yoga benefits on stress, anxiety and depression, as shown in a Harvard Review2. A google search will produce a plethora of articles and research papers to read should you be interested.

Transforming Effect of the Virgo and Pisces eclipses

At the risk of stating the obvious, these moons (albeit at different times in September 2016) are in opposition to each other. This is the nature of new and full moons. But, let’s examine that relationship a bit. They reflect back or provide a mirror to each other. When we look at the basic meaning of Virgo opposing Pisces we note that Virgo utilizing the mind attends to details and business, Pisces assists with assimilating man into the higher states of consciousness1. “If Virgo’s work of purification has not prepared the way for the soul to enter a state of grace, then Pisces brings rejection”1 p 495. Virgo likes to keep things clean, Pisces has compassion and has no boundaries. I am reminded of the beautiful lotus flower that rises up from the muck, resides in the water but, peeks up to show it’s beautiful flower on the surface of the water. Here is an example of something beautiful rising from dirt (abhorred by Virgo) living in water (Pisces loves water) and helps us understand how two different predilections can produce something beautiful. I suggest that this may be the message that the two eclipses together are trying hard to tell us.

In conclusion, in summarizing the effects of both these eclipses in September 2016, I say this: With Virgo’s feet firmly on terra firma the possibility to assist with the Pisces dream, of all of us attaining higher consciousness, could be realized. In order to do this we have to let go of all that is stopping us from connecting to source. Open your mind to the possibility and welcome it!

Sabian Symbol for 25 degrees Pisces

(remember you round up to the next degree when the minutes are greater than 0; so, for 24Pisces20 read for 25 degrees Pisces)

A religious organization succeeds in overcoming the corrupting influence of perverted practices and materialized ideals”p. 284

Dane Rudhyar talks about how this refers to the “power of the soul”; remembering that this is connected with source, the universe etc. and how this will intervene in our personal life and cause “catharses”. I interpret this to mean that our connectedness to source (higher power if you like) will create situations and cause things, people to leave our life, although it may bring some drama with it too. Faith is needed here. What is good for you will remain.
